The Trump administration has submitted their 2020 Fiscal Year Budget proposal to Congress which contains drastic, across the board spending cuts to social safety net and domestic programs to pay for the corporate tax cuts passed in late 2016. The $4.7 trillion budget proposal also grows the national deficit by another $1.1 trillion next year alone, with the administration projecting an increase in the national debt to over $31 trillion by 2029 from where it already stands at over $22 trillion.

An administration’s budget is a reflection of the party’s priorities and goals for the nation. It is clear from the Trump budget proposal that the Republicans main concern is cutting social and domestic programs in order to pay for massive for tax breaks given to millionaires and corporations, all while increasing the national deficit for future generations. Constituents must make it clear to Congress that Trump's budget strays far from true American values and must not be taken seriously.
