Urge Congress to Grant Asylum to Syrian Refugees
In response to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's use of chemical weapons against Syrian civilians, Donald Trump ordered a missile strike on a Syrian airbase. Trump justified his actions by claiming to be outraged by the use of chemical weapons against "innocent people, including women, small children, and even beautiful little babies." However, Trump's alleged concern for Syrians' lives is at odds with his policy decisions, including an executive order that banned Syrian refugees from entering the United States. While Trump ultimately removed this provision from a later version of the order due to pressure from the courts, Trump's initial stance proved he does not support admission of Syrian refugees into this country. Now that the United States has begun military intervention in Syria, it is more urgent than ever that we provide asylum to the thousands of Syrians displaced by the violence and horrors of war. Call your representative and urge that they support legislation to allow more Syrian refugees to seek asylum in the United States."
