Support Redistricting in California
The Texas legislature has gerrymandered its Congressional districts to give Republicans five additional seats in the House of Representatives. Texas and other Republican-led legislatures began this unprecedented mid-decade redistricting battle; if left unchecked, this effort could turn a contentious 2026 Congressional election into an easy win for Republicans.
California’s legislature is expected to consider a redistricting process of its own to increase the viability of Democratic candidates for Congress. Legislative approval comes first, after which a special election could be called to allow for voter approval of the redistricting process. The special election is set for November 4. The process needs to happen quickly if it is to affect the 2026 election.
California Democratic leaders have been clear that this is an emergency measure. With at least four Republican-led states considering gerrymandering, California lawmakers must act now to push back. Call them and demand that they move fast and fight back.
