The Texas legislature is currently in a special session to pass bills focused on flood relief and other topics. Those affected by the July 4 floods are counting on loans and other measures, and all of Texas needs emergency preparedness improvements. The legislature must prioritize these matters.
Instead, Texas Republicans have been delaying consideration of flood-related bills and focusing on redistricting in an unprecedented attempt at mid-decade gerrymandering to strengthen Republican control of the federal House of Representatives.
Instead of wasting time on partisan gerrymandering, state senators and representatives must focus on flood relief and support bills like SB 26, which provides relief loans for small businesses, and SB 25, which improves emergency preparedness and early warning systems.
Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [CITY, ZIP].
I’m calling to ask that [REP/SEN NAME] push for immediate consideration of flood relief and preparedness bills like SB 25 and 26. Our state is suffering. Passing flood relief measures must take top priority over any further discussion about Congressional redistricting.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
