Block Increase for ICE and Mass Deportation in the "One Big Beautiful Bill" Act (UPDATED 6/18)

The Senate is moving toward a vote on the updated version of their budget reconciliation bill, based on the House’s “One Beautiful Bill Act,” H.R. 1, which proposes a $155.2 billion increase in funding for immigration- and border-enforcement provisions that would ensure funding for the Trump administration’s priorities. These provisions now include:

  • $45 billion for new detention facilities, including family detention facilities, mostly built and run by private contractors
  • $27 billion for ICE enforcement and deportation operations, which would add thousands of new ICE officers to arrest, detain, and deport more immigrants without due process
  • $5 billion for the Department of Defense to fund military border support including deployment of military personnel, such as further deployment of the National Guard or Marines, which are currently active in Los Angeles and threatened specifically in democratic-governed cities and states
  • $51.6 billion for border wall construction
  • $12 billion for the “BIDEN Reimbursement Fund” to reimburse states for border control spending during the Biden Administration, which is likely to go primarily to Texas.

In addition, the bill requires significantly onerous new legal and processing fees for immigrants attempting to navigate a path to legal immigration to the US.

This budget would support the massive expansion of Trump’s unlawful, militarized detention and deportation activities. Demand your representatives vote against any budget plan that increases ICE funding, to ensure safety, human rights, and due process for every single person living in the United States.

Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [CITY, ZIP].

I’m calling to urge [REP/SEN NAME] to oppose H.R. 1, the House budget reconciliation bill, that increases funding for ICE and Trump’s mass deportation operation. ICE has been unlawfully detaining immigrants around the country without cause or due process. We should be stopping them from violating people’s constitutional rights, not enabling them to do it more.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
