Oppose Kash Patel for FBI Director - Senate Hearing on 1/30

Trump has nominated long-time MAGA loyalist Kash Patel to be FBI Director. By law, FBI Directors are appointed to 10-year terms to avoid the politicization of their position, but Trump continues to abuse the power of the presidential office to achieve the opposite. During his first term, he fired Director James Comey, and now has pressured Director Christopher Wray to resign after only 7 years to make room for a new appointee: long-time MAGA loyalist, conspiracy theorist, and right wing attack dog Kash Patel.

Patel’s nomination has been widely criticized both by former FBI agents and Trump’s first term Attorney General Bill Barr, not only for his clear lack of experience and expertise, but also because of his plans to turn the apolitical agency into a personal revenge force for Trump. For years, Patel has made it clear in interviews, podcasts, and his own memoir that he would use the power of the FBI to attack anyone found to be disloyal to Trump.

He compiled a list of people in the “deep state” and threatened retribution against “conspirators” in the media and government.While working under the Director of National Intelligence, he sought to prove the Trump-Russia investigation was a “hoax” and exonerate Trump’s national security advisors of any wrongdoing. He asserts that the FBI planned the Jan 6th insurrection has a nonprofit organization that aids Jan 6th defendants.

With a long track record of spreading disproven lies and conspiracy theories about civil servants, elected officials of any party, and the FBI itself, Patel would make for a dangerous FBI Director.
