The Department of the Interior is the government agency that oversees national parks and over 500 million acres of federal land. Tyler Hassen, a former oil and gas executive and current DOGE employee, was recently appointed to Assistant Secretary of Policy Management and Budget (AS-PMB) of the Interior. On April 24, Trump-appointed Interior Secretary Doug Burgum signed an order giving Hassen sweeping authority to make fundamental changes to the Interior’s funding, directives, and essential workings.
Hassen’s extensive ties to the oil and gas industry are completely at odds with public land management and preservation. Furthermore, despite his newly granted powers of control over the Interior, he was never confirmed by the Senate. The deliberate shift of power to Hassen signals a troubling and unprecedented surrender of government management of our precious national parks and public lands to DOGE.
Our public lands are not for sale. Contact your representatives to let them know that delegating management of our beloved public lands to a DOGE-based fossil fuel industry plant will not stand.
Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [CITY, ZIP].
I’m calling to demand [REP/SEN NAME] protect our National Parks and public lands by opposing DOGE employee Tyler Hassen’s appointment to Assistant Secretary of Policy Management and Budget of the Interior. Hassen’s extensive history as an oil and gas executive is completely at odds with the preservation and management of public lands, and DOGE has no place in management of our public lands.
