Oppose Trump's Unfit Cabinet Nominees - McMahon Hearing on 2/13

**UPDATE (02/08/25): The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee will hold a hearing on the nomination of Linda McMahon for Secretary of the Education Department on Thursday February 13th.

As the new Trump administration is about to begin, the Senate is performing its required duty to “advise and consent” on executive branch appointments. This formal confirmation process allows Senators to meet the nominees, ask questions, and decide if they should support or oppose their confirmation. An important check on presidential power, this allows the Senate to reject nominees if they are found to be unqualified or unfit for the job.

After winning the 2024 presidential election, Trump swiftly announced dozens of nominees. Unsurprisingly, many of these nominees are right wing extremists, wholly unqualified for the position, and/or loyalists who will follow Trump instead of the Constitution.

These nominees include:

• Pam Bondi for U.S. Attorney General, a long-term loyalist and foot soldier in the MAGA movement. If confirmed, she would be able to prosecute Trump’s political opponents; (confirmed)

• John Ratcliffe for Director of the CIA, a fierce Trump loyalist who is distrustful of the intelligence agency, vowing to root out “left-wing bias”; (confirmed)

• Kristi Noem for Secretary of Homeland Security, a longtime Trump loyalist and immigration hardliner who also proudly killed her dog; (confirmed)

• Sean Duffy for Secretary of Transportation, a Fox Business show host with a history of anti-immigrant and anti-LGBTQ+ stances; (confirmed)

• Chris Wright for Secretary of the Department of Energy, a fossil fuel executive, climate change denier, and persistent opponent to efforts to fight climate change; (confirmed)

• Russell Vought for Director of the Office of Management and Budget, a co-author of Project 2025; (confirmed)

• Lee Zeldin for Director of the Environmental Protection Agency, a Trump loyalist and climate change denier. Zeldin has promised to “deregulate the EPA”; (confirmed)

• Linda McMahon for Secretary of the Education Department, a MAGA extremist who is currently embroiled in a sexual misconduct lawsuit involving children;

• Elise Stefanik for U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, an ardent follower of Trump who amplified lies about the 2020 election.

Trump’s cabinet choices are a danger to the departments they would lead and to the country as a whole. Demand your Senators exercise their right to deny the confirmation of these unfit appointments.
