Demand Speaker Johnson Swear in Rep Grijalva

On September 23rd, Adelita Grijalva won a special election in Arizona, replacing her father, the late Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ) who passed away earlier this year. However, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has refused to swear in the new legislator, claiming that he can only do so when the House is in regular session. However this is clearly a lie, as he had no problem swearing in two new Republican members from Florida on April 2nd while the House was in recess.

Speaker Johnson is trying to delay the inevitable – a vote on the release of the Epstein files. The newly elected representative has already vowed to join the discharge petition for the Epstein files, which would give the legislation the final member needed to move the petition forward for a floor vote.

Residents in Grijalva’s district currently have no representation in the House even though they have elected a member to the chamber. Speaker Johnson must immediately swear Grijalva in and stop obstructing the democratic process to appease Trump.

Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [CITY, ZIP].

I’m calling to urge [REP/SEN NAME] to pressure Speaker Johnson to swear in duly elected Adelita Grijalva of Arizona to the House of Representatives. Johnson has sworn in other new members during pro forma sessions, his excuses are just blatant lies to protect Trump from the release of the Epstein files.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
