Oppose the Sharing of Medicaid and IRS Data with ICE

The Trump administration is increasingly weaponizing data from federal agencies to advance their fascist agenda, particularly their racist attacks on immigrants. Federal agencies have historically protected program enrollees’ private information and refused to share it with other agencies. In March 2025, however, Donald Trump ordered all federal agencies to share data on Americans, using right-wing billionaire Peter Thiel’s AI company Palantir to accelerate the process. Agencies like the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) are now sharing highly sensitive health and financial information with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to facilitate their mass deportation operation.

These data-sharing agreements are not only massive privacy violations but also deeply damaging to immigrant communities and our nation as a whole. The IRS’s data-sharing agreement with ICE actively discourages undocumented people, who paid nearly $100 billion in taxes in 2022, from safely filing their taxes. Meanwhile, HHS is granting ICE access to a database of 80 million Medicaid enrollees’ personal information, a stark violation of health care privacy rules that will have a chilling effect on immigrants’ access to lifesaving health care services.

All Americans must sound the alarm about the misuse and abuse of federal program data. The Trump administration is using our personal information to accelerate our nation’s slide into fascism and further empower ICE’s campaign of terror against immigrant communities.
