Oppose Oil & Gas Drilling Exemptions to Protect Endangered Species

A panel of high ranking Trump officials on the Endangered Species Committee has voted to exempt oil and gas drilling in the Gulf of Mexico from EPA regulations, which could seriously impact endangered wildlife in the area such as the rare Rice’s whale species. This “God squad” panel has not convened in over three decades but did so now at the request of Defense Secretary Hegseth, exploiting the energy crisis caused by the iran War.

Rice’s whales are among the most endangered whale species in the world, with fewer than one hundred individuals remaining. The are only found in the Gulf of Mexico and are vulnerable to vessel strikes, offshore industrial activity, and habitat disruption. Federal agencies have recognized the species as critically endangered under US environmental law.

Congress has authority through legislation, appropriations, and oversight to address offshore leasing policy, constrain drilling expansion, and ensure federal agencies implement species protections consistent with existing law. Contact your representation and urge them to work to protect critically endangered species such as the Rice’s whale in the Gulf of Mexico.

Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [CITY, ZIP].

I’m calling to urge [REP/SEN NAME] to oppose an EPA regulation exemption for oil and gas drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. This exemption does nothing for national security and instead will bring about the extinction of critically endangered species such as the Rice’s whale.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
