Oppose Fox News Host Jeanine Pirro for U.S. Attorney for D.C.
The U.S. Attorney for D.C. is “among the most powerful federal prosecutor positions in the country.” Donald Trump failed to gain Republican senators’ support for his original nominee for this role, Jan. 6 supporter and 2020 election denier Ed Martin. He has now nominated Fox News host Jeanine Pirro.
Pirro, like Ed Martin, is a notorious conservative activist and staunchly loyal Trump defender. In her role as a TV host, Pirro has consistently downplayed Trump’s sexist and racist comments and worked to spin Trump’s controversial actions to make them seem more palatable. She has regularly questioned the legitimacy of the 2020 election, railed against judges who have ruled against Trump, and supported Trump’s interest in weaponizing the Justice Department against his political enemies. Pirro’s unwavering loyalty even earned her ex-husband, convicted tax evader Albert Pirro, a pardon from Trump at the end of his first term.
Pirro’s addition to the U.S. Attorney’s office would advance Trump’s dangerous mission to convert the nation’s justice system into a corrupt defense operation for himself, his cronies, and his political and financial interests. Pirro was sworn in on May 14th to serve as the interim U.S. Attorney for D.C. but needs confirmation from the Senate to remain in the position permanently.
