Protect Our Public Lands

The Trump administration has repeatedly acted to weaken protections for our public lands and sell them to the highest bidder. They have repealed longstanding regulations for both land and wildlife protection; expedited approval processes for logging, mining, and drilling; and reorganized federal agencies to weaken oversight and management. Over 175 million acres of U.S. land are now at risk of sale or destruction.

— The administration will move the U.S. Forest Service headquarters to Utah and close research facilities in 31 states, weakening the agency’s ability to manage 154 national forests.

— The administration rescinded the Roadless Area Conservation Rule to open 59 million acres of national forestry to increased logging.

— As mandated by H.R. 1, the “One Big Beautiful Bill” Act, over 1.3 million acres of Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge will be put up for auction for oil and gas drilling.

— The administration is targeting lands that have been historically protected from mining and drilling, including Minnesota’s Boundary Waters, New Mexico’s Greater Chaco region and Upper Pecos River, and Nevada’s Ruby Mountains.

The Trump administration views our public lands as property they can greedily hand off to the fossil fuel industry and other private enterprises for profit. Demand your representatives repeal the reckless provisions in H.R. 1 that have supercharged the sale of our public lands. These beloved lands are for the American people, not drillers, polluters, and corporations.
