Stop ATF's Rollback of Gun Regulations

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) have proposed rolling back more than three dozen gun safety regulations, marking one of the most sweeping federal gun deregulation pushes in years. The most consequential changes include rolling back a rule intended to close the gun show loophole, reducing regulations on short-barrel rifles and bump stocks, and loosening restrictions on gun ownership for people with a history of mental illness.

In addition to threatening public safety, the changes also stand to further enrich the Trump family. Among the rollbacks is “Revising Firearms Transaction Record,” a proposal to eliminate the requirement that background checks happen in person and to rescind a century-old ban on mailing handguns through USPS. Notably, these changes would directly benefit GrabAGun, an online gun retailer for which Donald Trump, Jr. is a paid consultant. Don Jr. joined GrabAGun’s Board of Directors shortly after his father was re-elected in 2024 and owns 300,000 shares in the company that touts itself as “the Amazon of guns.”

Demand your representatives in Congress push back on these dangerous and corrupt changes to existing gun regulations. You can also submit a public comment to oppose the “Revising Firearms Transaction Record” rule change. Comments must be submitted in writing on or before August 6, 2026.
