Fight Unlawful ICE Enforcement Tactics
The Trump administration has made it a priority to expand and accelerate their relentless campaign of immigration enforcement, which has led to skyrocketing numbers of arrests, detentions, and deportations. The New York Times has reported that the White House is pushing ICE to aim for 2,000 arrests per day. In order to meet these quotas, ICE agents and DHS have:
- Wrongfully detained and mistreated hundreds of U.S. citizens, often as a result of racial profiling.
- Detained migrants with pending immigration petitions at airports, despite having no criminal record and a valid work permit.
- Used privacy-violating surveillance technology to apprehend and intimidate individuals.
- Fabricated assault claims and accused drivers of “weaponizing” vehicles to justify threats of violence and fatal shootings by agents.
- Routinely used excessive force and denied medical care to individuals in custody.
- Obscured their faces with masks to maintain their anonymity and failed to adopt the use of body cameras meant to increase transparency and accountability.
- Announced plans to invest millions of dollars in high-tech gloves that would allow agents to deliver electric shocks to people they seek to detain.
