The federal Continuum of Care (CoC) Program funds housing and supportive services that help people experiencing homelessness get and stay housed. HUD’s Fiscal Year 2026 CoC funding grant competition makes more than $4 billion available for housing and homelessness programs nationwide. After litigation temporarily disrupted the competition, HUD reopened it in September, but existing CoC grants begin expiring in 2027 and communities still need certainty that housing and services will continue without interruption.
Congress must make another federal funding decision before December 11, 2026, when the current Continuing Resolution budget deal expires. To give communities predictable resources and help prevent disruptions to housing and services while the FY2026 CoC funding competition and award process moves forward, Congress should use this funding legislation to require HUD to automatically renew all eligible CoC projects expiring in calendar year 2027 for one additional 12-month period.

Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [CITY, ZIP].
I’m calling to ask [REP/SEN NAME] to require HUD to renew funding for all eligible Continuum of Care projects expiring in 2027 for one additional year in the next federal funding bill. These programs help people experiencing homelessness, and communities need Congress to prevent disruptions to that housing and support.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
