Oppose Anti-Vax Heidi Overton for FDA Commissioner

Trump has nominated Dr. Heidi Overton, an anti-vax, anti-abortion extremist, to lead the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the agency responsible for regulating the safety of food, drugs, vaccines, and medical devices.

Overton currently serves on the White House Domestic Policy Council, where she has helped engineer the Trump administration’s reckless rollback of the childhood vaccine schedule—a decision that puts kids at risk of preventable disease. She has also spent years attacking abortion access, falsely claiming that medication abortion is dangerous, despite its well-established safety record. Now she’s in line to lead the very agency reviewing mifepristone’s safety, at a time when abortion rights are being gutted nationwide.

Even some Republicans are wary: Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA), a physician who chairs the committee overseeing her confirmation, has already expressed concerns that her lack of managerial experience makes her unprepared to run an 18,000-person agency already in crisis.

The FDA doesn’t need another Trump loyalist, it needs people who put science before ideology. Call your senators now and demand they reject Heidi Overton.
